Nevada Salvage Title

When it comes to buying a salvage car many think that the vehicle has to be parted out or junked. Quite often salvaged cars can be purchased at deep discounts, repaired, registered, and placed back on the road.  Now the main question is whether or not it’s worth it to buy a car with a salvaged title?

What is A Nevada Salvage vehicle

Salvage cars come with a salvage title which cannot be used for registration in Nevada. Quite often salvaged cars are purchased with the assumption that registration is straightforward. Now, there are several reasons for a car to get a salvage title. Usually, it is because the insurance companies believe that a car isn’t worth the cost of repairs. Another reason is insurance companies no longer want to assume the risk for a vehicle that may have been in a serious accident.

Sometimes, cars get a salvage title due to acts of vandalism, theft, and or minor water damage. Some of these vehicles are in perfect mechanical condition requiring minimal repair efforts.  ASAP DMV Services can help you review the paperwork prior to the title & registration process.  Oftentimes the buyer has no idea that the car has been salvaged or that the title presented ins’t the most current.

Legally, salvage cars can’t be driven on the road before they are repaired and inspected. After this process is completed you are issued a ‘rebuilt salvage’ title that allows you to drive the car on the road.

Nevada DMV has specific forms that have to be filled out by a licensed garage/mechanic. The process helps ensure that the vehicle is safe for use on public roadways. Salvage title services are not available online or via my dmv nevada.
